Pianist, keyboardist and composer.
His passion for improvisation began when he attended Giuseppe La Monica’s courses at the Academy of Music in Modena.
He continued his musical education at the Conservatorio A. Boito in Parma where he studied with Alberto Tacchini, Roberto Bonati and Roberto Dani.
He concluded his studies at the Conservatory by presenting a work on Thelonious Monk entitled “Thelonious Monk: dissonant space”, following which he records a disc entitled Crossing Monk (2016, self-production).
In addition to the courses mentioned above, he participates in several seminars. Particularly important are those with John Taylor, Bruno Tommaso, Graham Collier, Marc Ducret and Federico Sanesi.
Over the years, he has played in various contexts with a preference for jazz and improvised music in its various forms and contaminations of genre. Without paying much attention to classifications, he incorporates elements from different ‘musical environments’ into his songs: electronic, rock, funk and others.
He has participated as musician, composer and arranger in some important Italian festivals such as ParmaFrontiere, Novara Jazz Festival, Modena Jazz Festival, Milano Jazz, Il Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma.
In 2015 he founded the trio FLOWN as main composer and musician. With this project he records the homonymous album Flown (2019, SplascH Record).
Since 2018 he is part of the quartet NOCTUA that releases the album Wrapped in a lush dream (2020, self-production).
In 2019, he began to write a series of compositions under his own name, with a constantly changing line-up in terms of both number and elements: the first two tracks, written as a quartet and released as singles, are Hidden patches and First day of the year (2020, self-production).
In 2020 he founded the quartet ANDREA CAPPI MULTIBOX that recently recorded the album Eleven tokens released in early 2022 by Emme Record Label.
In 2021 he formed the duo VARV, born from the experience of a four-handed studio/workshop. Permeability and Childhood are the first singles of the album expected for 2023.

La sua passione per l’improvvisazione nasce frequentando i corsi di Giuseppe La Monica presso l’Accademia di Musica di Modena. Continua la sua formazione musicale presso il Conservatorio A. Boito di Parma dove studia con Alberto Tacchini, Roberto Bonati e Roberto Dani. Conclude il suo percorso in conservatorio presentando un lavoro su Thelonious Monk dal titolo “Thelonious Monk: spazio dissonante” a seguito del quale registrerà un disco intitolato Crossing Monk (2016, autoproduzione). Oltre ai corsi citati, partecipa a numerosi seminari. Particolarmente importanti quelli con John Taylor, Bruno Tommaso, Graham Collier, Marc Ducret e Federico Sanesi.
Nel corso degli anni suona in vari contesti prediligendo il jazz e la musica improvvisata nelle sue
varie forme e contaminazioni di genere. Senza prestare molta attenzione alle classificazioni,
inserisce nei suoi brani elementi da ‘ambienti musicali’ differenti: elettronica, rock, funk e altro.
Ha partecipato in veste di musicista, compositore e arrangiatore ad alcune importanti rassegne
italiane come ParmaFrontiere, Novara Jazz Festival, Modena Jazz Festival.
Nel 2015 fonda il trio FLOWN in veste di compositore principale e musicista. Con questo progetto
incide il disco omonimo Flown (2019, SplascH Record).
